Good evening Loyalton High School parents and students. This is Mr. Jones with your weekend update! This is a lengthy call, as a reminder a transcript of this message can be found on the district facebook page as well as the powerschool bulletin.

4 year-planning meetings are Monday and Tuesday of this week. 4 year planning is an opportunity to sit with a teacher and talk about future planning for your student. Students will choose the classes they are interested in for next year that are in line with their college and career aspirations. Future 11th and 12th grade students and parents will meet with staff on Monday and Future 9th and 10th graders will meet on Tuesday. It will be an open format so arrive anytime between 3:30 and 630pm. If you cannot make your assigned day, you may attend the opposite day.

As you may have heard, the Center for Disease Control made announcements last week about masking. While the news is great news, nothing has changed as of yet for local or state guidelines. We will be monitoring the changes carefully and we will update you when anything changes.

Additionally, Sierra County Health is seeking the numbers of families that would be interested in their student receive the COVID 19 vaccine. Students ages 12 and older are now eligible. If your family is interested, please email Mr. Jones at tjones@spjusd.org.

Baseball and softball wrapped up their seasons on Friday. Both teams had competitive seasons. Softball finished the season with 8 wins. We look forward to promising futures for both teams next season.

Volleyball and Basketball teams begin play this week. Indoor sporting COVID guidelines are in place. At this time only people living in player’s households may attend home games. All attendees must wear facial coverings and distance. Monday Basketball teams play at Truckee. Tuesday VB plays at Portola and Wednesday basketball teams host Portola.

LHS FFA welcomes LES students for Farm Day this Friday and congratulations to Conner Kilmurray and Chance Morgan for earning their state degrees.

4th quarter progress reports will be mailed home this week.

Good evening Loyalton High School parents and students, this is Mr. Jones with your weekend update.

AP Exams continue on campus this week. Tomorrow AP French and AP World History will be administered and the AP English Exam will be administered on Wednesday.

CAASPP testing will begin May 20th through June 10th for 7th, 8th, and 11th graders. Seniors will take the California Science Test. Absences should be avoided during this time if at all possible.

Baseball and Softball have another busy week. Both teams play at Chester tomorrow, Baseball hosts Lassen High on Wednesday, and both teams will wrap up the season on Friday at home vs. Portola.

The FFA Spring Banquet will take place this Wednesday at 6pm.

Hello Loyalton High School Parents and students, this is Mr. Jones with your events and news for the upcoming week.

We have reached May which is by tradition Testing Month. There are many exams that are administered during the month of May that monitor the learning progress of your students in certain grades.

Starting off testing season are the AP end of course exams. This week’s scheduled exams are AP Government tomorrow and AP US History on Thursday.

State CAASPP testing will occur for the high school later in the month for 7th, 8th, 11th, and Seniors for science. A complete testing schedule will be posted on the district facebook page later in the week. Absences should be avoided during this time if at all possible.

Baseball and softball take to the fields again this week. Baseball and Softball will host Quincy tomorrow and Portola on Wednesday at 4pm. Baseball travels to Quincy on Tuesday. Friday both squads will play at Portola.

FFA is busy this week as well with a lunch meeting this Wednesday, a regional meeting on the Saturday the 8th, and the State conference starting May 10th. Select FFA members will be showing at the Junior Livestock show starting Thursday.

As a reminder tomorrow is a B day.
